Writer's House

A BEACH COTTAGE- Key West, FL

Every student was given a lot in Key West and challenged with the task of designing either a house or a live/work space. I chose to design a singlefamily residence for a writer. I imagined this writer desiring an inspiring place to write with significant storage space for his/her massive book collection. The house resembles a Conch Temple style house with a writing tower at the back. The first two floors of the tower house the book collection and the top story has a built-in desk for the writer to use as a creative work space.  I chose to begin the project with hand drafting before bringing it into AutoCad.  The section perspective was done with SketchUp and the lines weights were then adjusted in AutoCad.
